Annual Trustee Elections … Your Vote Counts!

VOTE

Members and retirees have the opportunity to vote in elections each year to determine most of the trustees who oversee TRS.

TRS’s independent Board of Trustees is charged with defending the retirement security of Kentucky’s teachers. The work of the board is vitally important to the proper functioning of the retirement system. For more than 70 years, through wars, world-wide economic recessions, natural disasters, terrorist attacks and other travails, the board has successfully met its obligations to the members and beneficiaries of the retirement system and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Since the beginning of the retirement system, the annual vote has been an important way for members and retirees to take part in the governance of the retirement system. The four-year terms are staggered so that two positions are on the ballot in most years.

Since 2019, the vote has taken place both electronically through Pathway and by standard mail.

Each April, every active and retired member of TRS has the opportunity to vote electronically through Pathway for trustee candidates. (Click here to go to Pathway’s registration page.)

Each May, ballots are mailed to anyone who didn’t vote electronically. Returned ballots must be postmarked by the date listed on the ballot — the postage is prepaid.

The results of the election are announced at the June board meeting.

TRS encourages members to participate each year in this important election and continue to support the board’s long history of committed service.

Please review the qualifications of each candidate on the ballot and cast your vote for the candidate you feel is best qualified to be an effective trustee.
