Open Records Requests

Guidelines 

Pursuant to KRS 61.870 to 61.884, the public is notified that, as provided herein, the public records of the Teachers’ Retirement System are open for inspection by any person on written application, as designated by the executive secretary, to Beau Barnes, General Counsel & Deputy Executive Secretary of Operations, 479 Versailles Rd., Frankfort, Ky. 40601. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Applications must be made in writing and delivered either in person, by U. S. mail, by electronic mail or by facsimile. Application forms for the inspection of the public records of this agency will be furnished on request; also, the standardized form from the Office of the Attorney General is provided below. Assistance in completing an application form will be provided by an employee on request.

Applicants for the inspection of public records shall be advised in writing not later than five working days after the receipt of the application for inspection of the availability of the records requested for inspection and/or any reason the records requested are not available for public inspection.

Copies of written material in the public records of this agency shall be furnished to any person requesting them on payment of a fee of 10 cents a page; copies of nonwritten records (photographs, maps, material stored in computer files or libraries, etc.) shall be furnished on request, on payment of a charge equal to the actual cost of producing copies of such records by the most economic process not likely to damage or alter the record.

Email requests must be sent to beau.barnes@trs.ky.gov. Be advised that it is possible for email requests to be blocked by security screening and, as such, might not be received by the Teachers’ Retirement System.
